Home Products Underfloor Heating 6 Easy Install Steps
6 Easy Install StepsQuick & Easy to InstallJohnson’s 6 step process makes it simple and straightforward for appropriately qualified tradespeople to install the perfect radiant floor heating system in your home. Installation requires 1 - 2 hours per room, and in most cases, the floor covering professional can start work immediately.* | Floor PreparationThe floor is first swept and vacuumed to reveal a level surface free from contaminants. The included floor primer is then diluted with water, applied across the entire floor and left to dry for 30 - 45 minutes. | | System Design First, the total available floor area is measured. Using a simple formula, this value determines the element spacing. The location of the cold lead and thermostat is also chosen to suit the design of the room. | | Fixing of the Element The included cloth tape is used to securely fix the element to the primed floor. The element is then returned to the starting point after achieving 100% floor coverage. Any excess element is cut off. Lastly, the remote sensing probe is positioned in an appropriate location. | | Cold Lead ConnectionThe heating element is connected to the in-wall cold lead. An installation monitor is then attached to ensure that the element remains undamaged while the floor covering is fixed. | | Cable EmbedmentA cable embedment or flexible floor leveling compound is applied over the element to a depth of 4mm for hard floor coverings and 6mm for soft floor coverings. This is optional where a cement mixture is to be applied over the element. | | Connection of Thermostat A fully programmable thermostat is connected to the cold lead and remote temperature sensor. An operating schedule is programmed to suit the lifestyle and routine of the occupants. | |
